Alexa Garbarino is an award-winning photographer whose work explores memory, history, and the stories held within people, places, and objects. Born and raised in Northern California, Garbarino’s lifelong connection to photography began at thirteen when her father, an avid amateur photographer, gave her her first camera and built a darkroom in their family home.
She began her professional career in Los Angeles photographing for the music and film industries before moving to New York City, where she created cover art for major publishing houses.
Garbarino published RIPE: The Essence of the Pregnant Nude, a personal exploration of the pregnant form that received awards from IPA: International Photography Awards and PX3: Prix de la Photographie. Her fine art photography has since been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the country.
Now based in Montclair, New Jersey, Garbarino approaches photography as a form of discovery—preserving fleeting moments, forgotten histories, and the unexpected beauty found in the world around us.
